Why I wrote this book:
About five years ago I started down a path of health. I always wanted to be healthy, but it took me a long time to learn just what that meant. It took me just as long to want to make healthy choices 100% of the time, because for a long time I was trapped in the myth that said healthy wasn't as tasty. For the pat five years I have been educating myself on what is truly healthy, why organic matters, and how to eat to be healthy and prevent disease. Along the way, eating healthy became easy - I didn't want to eat bad foods anymore. And, along the way I got more active, started seeing a naturopathic doctor, and under the supervision of my doctor, I discontinued use of the pharmacuetical drugs I had been on for 10 years.
My passion for health was something I wanted to share, so I sat down and started writing .... I wrote my e-book because I have a passion for healthy, delicious food. My outlook on food is a lifestyle because what I eat effects every other aspect of my well-being. I have come to realize that no gimmick diet is the answer and many things we are told are “healthy”, are, in fact, NOT! I like to emphasize that there is nothing new, magical, or radical about my healthy living lifestyle; my approach simply focuses on basic, healthy foods.
Living my healthy food lifestyle is a constant process as I continually learn more about about healthy eating and as I make decisions every day about what to eat. Every meal is a an opportunity to live my healthy food lifestyle. And, I keep my lifestyle felxible; I make it work for me. There are plenty of situations where it would be easy to eat something junky, but it is just as easy to seek out a healthier alternative. I don't beat myseld up for eating a bad food - once in a great while it is unavoidable. However, the vast majority of the time I relish in the opportunity to make the healthy choice that is available.
A little more about me:
I live in the beautiful Durango, Colorado with my husband and chocolate lab girl, Mocha. I love being active and specifically love to run (road & trail), bike (road & mountain), and hike; I do at least one of these activities daily. I also love to read, cook, and I am passionate about graphic design and typography. I am a watercolor artist and I paint portraits of pets, dogs and cats mostly.
So, let’s begin. I hope you will open your mind and heart to this new healthy food lifestyle. It’s no gimmicks, no magic, and no nonsense
